I get a lot of visual artifacts when first opening Chromium on Pop!_OS with a 12th gen intel Framework laptop. Relatedly, odd black outlines will appear around different elements around the OS occasionally. I believe I’m on the most recent drivers and such, is there some other configuration necessary to fix this bit of cruft?

Probably just wayland or some driver weirdness, but artifacts like this can happen if you have bad VRAM. Your IGP uses the main memory for that, so you can check it with memtest86. It’s unlikely, but you can try it if all else fails.

Try switching to X11 if you are on Wayland.

Or to wayland if you are on X11

I saw something similar to this on an intel Mac running canary years back. I believe toggling GPU acceleration in the settings resolved the issue.

Ask this question on !pop_os@lemmy.world community. There is a very active pop os employee who provides technical support/help

Run some hardware tests and make sure you’ve got the latest firmware installed from framework. I have never seen that on my framework laptop (11th gen Intel) and I’m also running pop.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
