It isn’t weird. It’s just the primordia (stage before fruiting) forming everywhere.
You’re supposed to cut only one small slit/X in the bag, not everything.

Spot on! We do about 1000 of these a week and do a x cut. This one was weird because it grew upside down and broke the bag
