Hi there,
After @FlayOtters@lemmy.world was able to get in contact with @MushroomMan89@lemmy.world, I volunteered to help moderate this community. I would like to thank both of them for doing the legwork of creating this community/and doing work to keep it running!
I have been a lifelong football/soccer fan and am happy to help keep this community on track and discussing the sport we all love.
If you see something missing on the sidebar (or anywhere else), please let me know!
With that out of the way, does anyone have any photoshop/editing skills? It would be nice to create a banner for this community but that is not something I am excel in so happy to take contributions!
I guess a consensus hasn’t been firmly established on memes but I personally wouldn’t mind restricting them on this sub, creating a separate Soccer Shitpost sub and linking that in the sidebar.
That’s a fair suggestion. Probably should open it up to the wider community…or maybe just memes/shitposts only on one day a week etc
I prefer just having each thing in its own place and wholly separate, to be honest. I did enjoy the no holes barred shitpost-a-thon once a year or whatever on r/Soccer over Christmas when the mods had a day off. That felt like a proper event, but I’d not want it more than once or maybe twice a year on the main sub.
I tried to make one but it just turned out shit.
The video bot for goal highlights I mentioned previously seems to be working btw. It copies the post title and url to the video from reddit and posts it here automatically. If it’s ok with you I can start it running 24/7 in the next few day to see how it goes? I can try to adjust it if necessary based on how that goes.
Nice to see we finally have active moderation! Hoping to see match threads / daily discussions going :) I know Man U have a bot, and we’re working on one ourselves at c/gunners, so that’s worth referencing

This is United’s! It actually works so yea
I can probably cobble something together in Photoshop. What sort of thing were you thinking of?
Edit: I have an idea for a community logo as well, if you guys are interested: a football with the Lemmy icons mouse face on it.
Nice, I hope this community grows and we get more regular content :-)
I have no photoshopping skills, but I really like the banner over at https://lemmy.world/c/casualconversation
A banner with the logo blending in like that looks really nice imho
