Thank you for all your support over the past weeks. It’s helped us get to this point.

A word of caution: The build that was released is slightly outdated and there are a few issues that have already been addressed in that build. Unfortunately because you can’t replace the build in review, we were not able to update it as we went through this nearly week-long back and forth with Apple. It required an appeal to get us onto the store.

With that said, I’ll be releasing the final version of 0.0.2 tonight to TestFlight, and will begin build versioning starting at 0.1.0, which will be the next release on the store. I’ll try and have something submitted to them tonight and hopefully it will be reviewed and released within a day or so.

I’ll update this post here in a few hours with more information. Tonight’s build will include another list of bug fixes as well as vast improvements to the slide to upvote/comment feature (no more glitching, hopefully) as well as hopefully fixing a few issues with the image viewer.

This should give us a fairly stable release which I will submit to Apple for review. Thankfully, now that we have completed the initial review future updates should be much quicker (likely around 12-24 hours per update).

See you guys in a bit!

Cheers!

Congrats on release! I’ve had problem deciding on a primary app for fediverse and I think Memmy might be it. Sorry you had issues with Apple. Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here! Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I love wefwef but it’s missing native settings and some things Memmy has already, so this is the one.

I hope we get auto marking as read by scrolling past posts (aka, actually hiding the post on our account, and not just in-app like wefwef)

Tried memmy but I’m not sure you can actually reply to comments, just the main post itself. And Mlem is the same way actually, so maybe I’m doing something wrong?

wefwef is still just the closest thing to Apollo I’ve seen and it replies to comments just fine in my experience 🤷‍♂️

Just installed the app and am testing replying to your comment (by swiping from right to left on it)

Swipe to reply, yea that through me for a loop too first time using it.

Testing.

If you can read this, it seems you actually can.

In terms of appearance, to me memmy feels more like Apollo than wefwef does because of the more compact Home screen.

After the update the made it more compact than it was before, I finally decided to stay with memmy over wefwef. I keep checking out wefwef occasionally, but this feels better.

Wefwef is REALLY good. Memmy is excellent as well, I found it scrolls much smoother than wefwef. It’s absolutely bonkers that we have so many choices in such a short time since the Reddit meltdown.

Yea we’re so spoiled, I’m a big comment collapser, App Store Memmy likes to freeze up a bit, where as wefwef is a bit quicker….but it likes to jump my position in the ‘scroll position’ 🤣

Still….I’ll take these problems over fucking Reddits app!!

Congrats! I’ve been on the beta for a couple of weeks and am very impressed how quickly it’s become solid.

Can you let me know the best way to submit feature requests? There is one or two gestures I dearly miss from Apollo and find myself reflexively doing.

Swipe left on feed view to return to previous thread? Me too.

For me, there are two things I miss most.

On a comment swiping from right to left would collapse that entire thread up to the parent comment. I used this ALL THE TIME. It’s great for when you’re deep down a rabbit hole of comments and go “ok I’m done with this conversation, what’s the next one?”, then swipe to shrink the whole thing up to the next parent comment. I didn’t realize how much I loved this feature until after it was gone.

The second might be the same as what you’re saying (?). If I accidentally swipe out of a topic and back to the magazine list view of posts, in Apollo you could go “oops!” And swipe from the right edge to go back to where you were (even, back to the comment you were at in that topic). It was a really nice feature.

Exactly, second one was the feature I was poorly explaining. Reflexively do it a lot still. Your other one was very useful too though

Same, i didn’t realize how much muscle memory I had engrained from Apollo, I swipe right to left at least 3 times a day to try and return to a thread 😖

Great to see this moving forward. If I understand correctly, you’ll be retiring the Test Flight releases soon, right?

No. TestFlight will continue to be a beta platform to receive feedback for new versions before they go live. Anyone who is still interested in being a tester is welcome to stay here and will receive regular updates. I am just changing the versioning because of the App Store requirements.

Right now, I only increment build numbers to avoid having to enter a review period for new TestFlight releases. Now, I’ll increment the version number after each Store release, and we will be starting at 0.1.0. TestFlight might go from 0.1.0.1 to 0.1.0.15. If we decide at build 15 that we should push to the store, then we will then begin development of 0.1.1.1 on TestFlight and so on.

Do you still need more beta testers?

Pretty sure they’re going to keep pushing beta testing on test flight while keeping what’s available on the App Store as the most stable version.

Congratulations on the release! 🎉

Watching the app come together since it’s early inception to release has been a wonder as a beta tester. Every release just expands the scope and possibilities of the entire platform.

This App is already being used by thousands of people to connect with the world. When I used Apollo - I used it to hone my hobbies, my career, my tastes, learn about places I’ll visit or where I live now, and make real valuable friendships. Surely, Memmy will continue that tradition for me - and at least thousands more. Great work!
