Hi, I’m not really sure how I would search for this online, so I’d appreciate some pointers.

I’m looking for ways to selfhost porn on my local network, so I can access it via different devices. I have the folloing things in mind, but these are not neccesarily hard requirements:

  • Webinterface: For compatibility with most devices, without requiring a special client software
  • Running on Synology NAS / Docker
  • Support for Pictures, Videos, Gifs
  • Presented as page-less scroll wall (similar to scrolller.com)
  • Content should be filterable by tags, instead of displaying static folders/albums/type
    • Complex filters would be nice, e.g. (tag1 & tag2) | (tag3 & tag4)
    • Option to tag content on-the-go from the client side would make things easier

As far as I know, most gallery utilities don’t support the last top point. That’s something that mostly makes sense for porn only (why would I want do do this for my holiday pictures instead of chronological?), so that’s why I’m specifically asking for that.

Throught the link in the sidebar I found PhotoPrism and HomeGallery, I’ll give these a try. But feel free to add further suggestions and/or personal experience with these.

PhotoPrims’s video support isn’t great. It’s good, in that it supports HW transcoding, reasonably well, but bad in that it doesn’t support streaming (ie it converts the whole video to transmit format before it starts sending it for playback). So depending on the length of videos you intend to share, this might become annoying for you.

Plex does support streaming, ie playback while converting.

Oh I see, thanks for the heads-up.

Is it possible to dynamically sort the content in plex? (For movies/shows I use Kodi because I don’t need the streaming feature for those. Now for porn I might finally also try Plex…)

One thing I forgot to mention is that once the video is converted to transmit format in PhotoPrism it stays in the cache and plays immediately. So you’ll just ending up eating HD space, which may be acceptable.

Plex offers personal tags on media IIRC. I don’t use it though (tags, plex I do)

I think Stash should cover most of your points, except for the page-less scroll: https://github.com/stashapp/stash The only other software I know for this is Porn Vault: https://gitlab.com/porn-vault/porn-vault

I’m definitely going to check stash, and I think porn vault is worth a try too, thanks

@online Why?

Because my collection is getting too large. Additionally, most content might match multiple categories, and managing that only with folders/galleries doesn’t make much sense. I mainly want to manage it on PC but access it on my tablet/phone so streaming is the way to go.

In this community, I probably don’t have to explain about the self-host part, but here goes nothing: Especially for porn, the online content might get deleted. Also the content is spread across multiple resources and there’s a lot that I’m not really interested in, so I might aswell get to the juicy bits directly.

Plex is great and fits all your points. You can even mark a certain library to not be shown on homepage, so your porn won’t be showing between your regular movies.

Jellyfin might be a better fit since it’s completely self-hosted and doesn’t connect through a centralized server run by a company. Probably a good idea that a company doesn’t know your porn habits XD.
