It’s like an ancient eldritch horror. We are not to look at it, lest we lose our minds, but just show respect in it’s presence.

I visited Vänern once. It’s like standing at the beach, the lake stretches past the horizon.

As someone living in the great lakes in North America, this is the thing that I find most difficult to explain to people not from here, the concept that a lake can be similar to a sea.
