I’m an android guy and my partner is iPhone, she isn’t very tech literate and has an old iPad.
I don’t want to connect the older iPad to my network but I’d like to get some MP4 videos on it of learning and Nursary rhymes for my daughter when on a car journey.
I’ve plugged it in but I can’t seem to drag and drop. I use Linux so not sure iTunes is an option, thank you.
Are there any tricks?
I recently had a similar problem with an old device. I used my mobile hotspot to allow me mobile device to connect to a data network. That way at least it’s still behind my mobile device’s security.
I use Linux and my iPhone shows up in GNOME’s file explorer. I’m able to drag and drop files into apps. (They appear like directories.)
I can’t tell you what needs to be installed, since it worked out of the box on Ubuntu, but check your package manager for “iOS” or “iPhone”.
Can modern ipads be mounted as a file system. It’s kinda annoying, going to try @plutolink suggestion.
I even tried just downloading them from a local webserver but safari on an older ipad can’t download, only stream the MP4.
Yeah older iPadOS and IOS are a pain and require iTunes. I would try to setup Wine and installed iTunes.
