You’re not alone. I thought the same thing as I was building that step, then afterwards it clicked as to what I was looking at.
“I didn’t know until after I built it” is super common in lego sets.
There’s a creator set of a tiger, it’s crazy detailed. Fully articulates, very impressive. All the way down to the pink flower shaped cat butthole. Not even joking, I’m sure someone’s shared it on Google. It cracked me up when I got to the step in the instructions.
