So I’m definitely missing something with Lemmy…I’ve tried creating an account on their site, but it’s never gone through. I know we get the same stuff on kbin as we do on Lemmy, but I was curious to try both out.

Surely it’s not the same account for both, right?

I tried creating my account on Lemmy about a month ago, and it just kept doing the scrolly-wheel of doom and it never appeared to go through. I tried again today to see if it would work now, but, when I try to create the account, it says that it already exists, but trying to log in does nothing.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What instance are you trying to sign up for? Some instances are completely overloaded, but if you try signing up for lemm.ee or vlemmy.net or any other smaller instances you’ll probably have better luck. Most instances will still give you access to the whole lemmy fediverse, but rules do vary across instances so make sure to read them on each instance to help make your decision

I was having the same issue trying to sign up for Lemmy.world. It kept happening for days. Finally I tried Lemm.ee and it worked first try. I have been happy with it so far

There’s hundreds of different Lemmy instances. On which one did you try to sign up? Lemmy.world?

@Wander Yeah, lemmy.world. I’m still very new to the fediverse / haven’t played with it much, so I’m still finding all these lovely, obvious pitfalls.

Any suggestions for alternatives to lemmy.world?

Thanks for replying!

Did you check your junk mail folder?

@MrJukes It never got far enough to suggest checking for email verification, unfortunately. It just kept trying to send it through to no avail.

I’ll keep an eye out for wayward emails though. Thanks!

@Chais lemmy.world. As I can see from everyone, that seems to be the culprit. Any suggestions for alternatives?

Thanks!
