Looking for recommendations for a sleep app on iOS, I used one on android quite some time back but looking to get good suggestions from people here using some actively.

Specifically would like something that can wake you up at the best time by tracking your sleep cycle time and whatnot. Hopefully not needing a watch of any kind as well.

Well you can always input data manually in Health, but using a Watch should be your preferred method for tracking sleep.

You might give Sleep Cycle a go. I’ve been using it for a few years. It seems to do alright.

without a watch you’re gonna have to enter data manually. What’s wrong with the native  Health app?
