I’ve been instructed by Valve to re-image my deck (in regards to my fans running while idling issue).

Does anyone know where custom controller layouts are stored?

I can reinstall most things, but I have a number of custom layouts that I’d like to keep without having to reconfigure them all.

Google says:

/home/dec/.local/share/Steam/userdata/USER_ID/241100/remote

Google’s result was a Reddit post, so it is best to have a copy of this information in lemmy.

Thanks for your help!

You can save them to your Steam account too.

Somewhere on the layout config screen there should be an opton to save it as a custom layout (will save it for this specific game), or as a preset (can be loaded up for any game).

An update for what I’ve found:

The path Google/Reddit had was invalid, but there was a cache file there that helped me locate the actual directory (at least for my Steam Deck) and identify which layout goes with which game.

The path I found was: /home/deck/.steam/root/steamapps/common/Steam Controller Configs/{USER_ID}/config/
