Tone cops always come out of the woodwork to disparage vegans who ask carnists not to hurt animals, no matter how nicely they ask. But they’d never speak up on behalf of animals, bc they benefit from being the “good vegan” and are beloved by human supremacists for enforcing the status quo. Fighting for animal liberation is incredibly stigmatized, and pick-me’s try to escape that stigma by throwing activists under the bus. This is common in all spheres of social justice.

Respectability politics have been criticized for being “used to rationalize racism, sexism, bigotry, hate, and violence.” For example, Bill Cosby “never gave voice to issues of racism, sexism, the failed public school system, health and economic disparities, mass incarceration or police brutality. Instead, he spent over a decade disparaging Black folk to the delight of white conservatives.” which made him controversial in the Black community.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Respectability_politics

Any challenge to the status quo will be deemed “mean” by those who benefit from it. Misogynists paint those who challenge patriarchy as mean man haters, femin*zis, uppity, unreasonable. Same thing for activists who fight against racism. Human supremacists will always paint vegans as mean bullies for asking them to stop supporting the rape and murder of nonhumans. That doesn’t make their framing fair or true. They’re just protecting their status quo, which causes the torture and death of over a trillion sentient beings every year. Carnists love when pick-me’s favor their feelings (about being told to give up their victims’ literal corpses) over the feelings of their victims (terror, grief, pain, horror) and the lives of their victims.

But change doesn’t happen when you flatter power and enforce the status quo. Animals will not be liberated by throwing the people who speak out for them under the bus while protecting the people that harm them. Leftists know this already, but they like to forget when it comes to animal liberation

I’m genuinely unsure because I wasn’t persuaded to try to stop eating meat until someone came along and presented as something good for me in a persuasive way. All the extremists ever did was force me into a corner where I’d strike back out at them and not really give a fuck.

I don’t think “human supremacists”, which I think is a stupid term in the first place, are going to love a vegan who tries to placate us. There are basically three categories of people when it comes to interacting with vegans. Vegans, people who rabidly hate all vegans, and people like myself who mostly don’t give a shit until you start getting preachy about shit we don’t care about. I’m aware cows are fairly intelligent. I will keep eating them because they taste good, and there’s no argument you can make that will sway me.

Not a surprise that a human supremacist like you thinks it’s okay to rape and murder non-human people simply for flavor and pleasure. It’s literally in the name

Edit: but for real like imagine thinking this is a good comeback at all. You’re literally doing the meme I just posted

Nonhuman people might be the new dumbest phrase I’ve seen. Nonhumans, by definition, are not people.

I’ve never raped an animal, I’ve never intended to rape an animal, and I don’t ever intend to rape an animal. Misusing the word in the way that you are demeans actual rape victims.

I only pay for people to rape animals.

Personhood is political. You choose not to extend it to nonhumans for political reasons, namely you profit from human supremacy and don’t want to change the system in which you benefit from nonhumans being chattel property, doing slave labor for you, getting raped and murdered so you can have treats, forced to bend to the will of their human oppressors for your entertainment.

Also, pick one

I don’t think “human supremacists” […] are going to love a vegan who tries to placate us

There are basically three categories of people when it comes to interacting with vegans. Vegans, people who rabidly hate all vegans, and people like myself who mostly don’t give a shit until you start getting preachy about shit we don’t care about.

The third category you listed is you declaring you’ll only tolerate vegans who try to placate you. Anti-vegans and carnists who come into vegan spaces to call us “stupid” for caring about nonhumans are the same people. You’re a typical fascist, blaming animal activists for your own choice to come here and disparage us.

Vegans, this is what I mean when I say staying silent in the face of injustice only flatters power. Carnists will do their utmost to stimatize those who speak out about the harm they’re causing. This user claims they don’t “love” pick-me’s who placate them, but at the same time, they’re scolding any vegan who isn’t silent as “preachy about shit we don’t care about.” The only way a vegan can satisfy an animal fascist is to erase themselves and the plight of nonhumans completely. Nonhumans deserve better than that

Only issue I have is with the last part. Everyone should leave open the possibility there is something they could find out that would change their mind. Your argument boils down to “I probably know everything already, so I’m never changing my mind”.

I’m open to having my mind changed, I’m just not open to having my mind changed by someone who calls me an animal-raping nazi because I enjoy the flesh of dead animals.

Did you even read what you just wrote? Ppl who demand blood sacrifice to get their jollies when they just as well could eat something that harms no one have no moral standing to whine about being called nazis.
