Another week, another post. Tell us what you’ve got going whether it’s mobile, console or computer!
drop’s recs:
Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos (Wii, Windows, Steam, Amazon Luna)
In between getting bodied by Nioh 2, I’ve been trying to get into anything else and Ruins of Tasos is about the only other thing capable of keeping my interest at the moment. An homage to the Super Nintendo Zelda, you’ll find yourself heading to dungeons right away in order to progress the story, and with some procedural generation you’ll get access to glass tools (one dungeon use only, die and you’ll have to obtain them again!) to try to defeat the boss. Unlike Zelda every run will net you gems which you can use to upgrade the town, unlock new classes, upgrade your stats and your weapon abilities. It’s simple, it’s fun, it’s slightly challenging. Best of all? Online multiplayer. Grab some friends and have a blast!
Idk what to play next. But I want to write a bit about Inscryption. It’s a cool game, but I am not the right audience for it.
Spoilers ahead
I don’t like card games that much and don’t have much for ARGs, but I liked the first act a lot. I had to reload saves quite often, but it was fun doing better with more knowledge. The atmosphere is incredible and the thing I liked the most about the game. Almost everything besides act 1 falls flat on me. Yes game please try to delete my /dev/nvme0. It sadly didn’t try because I destroyed the boss lol. Onseshot was way more effective for me
Honest question: Why did you play it if you’re not really into card games?
I specifically mean Yugioh, magic or other rather complex games and deck building games. It didn’t look like it would be complex and it didn’t. And I could just win with the cards I selected most of the time. So the card game aspect was fun, but after

act 1
it got stale for me. I was interested in the game because everyone said it is so good. More often than not I really like games I buy without knowing a lot about them and only sometimes I return them
Played some some Ascension (deck-builder like Dominion) over the weekend, and am watching my partner play Uncharted 1/2/3, with the goal of playing Uncharted 4 myself afterwards. He had me play the intro to 2 and while it was cool, the janky feeling of the controls (and knowing I’d suck at the gunplay) makes me glad I’m not doing the actual gameplay myself!! I have a somewhat low tolerance for controls I find frustrating and I know I’d just be getting annoyed at them instead of getting sucked into the story.
Uncharted 2 is funny because two of the side characters are Alistair and Morrigan from Dragon Age Origins and I can really hear it in their voices sometimes.
The set pieces (both cutscenes and platforming) are quite cool and look quite nice even though a bit dated. Narratively they’re basically playable Indiana Jones, with all the narrative tropes and one-liners that implies – it’s been enjoyable to watch!
Ascension kind of reminds me of the Thronebreaker gwent game, got it on my list now :)
Agreed about the Uncharted series, I never had anything past PS2 from Playstation but a roommate had all of the exclusive stuff and it felt like it never took itself completely seriously which is fine to me.
Recently got into the Metro series last Sunday, and hoping to finish Exodus today (almost done I believe 😅).
Couples games I’ve wanted to play but haven’t :
- FFXVI, but can’t be sure about $90 for the game.
- Dead Island 2, looks really fun, and I’m pretty sure I’ll get, just occupied with other games in my backlog
- Zelda TOTK, was planning to play it sometime this summer with my wife but she hasn’t fully committed yet
