I’m so glad to see this community here!!

I was a big lurker of /r/flashlight a few years back. Later, on a whim, I bought a Thrunite Catapult V6 cause of an Amazon ad. Never really went back to check people’s thoughts on it though – how is it as a midrange throw light? Is it still competitive in 2023?

It was one of my first lights and maybe my first legit decent light and I don’t have any plans to part with it. My gf kinda took it over as her own along with an SC31 Pro. It’s a great light though. Great beam, good throw, and they sold it with an 80CRI 4000K XHP35 HI in it if you happened to choose the NW option.

Which LED? It’s been offered with the XHP35 HI and the SST70.

As a practical light, neither version is obsolete at all, though if you’re comparing performance numbers (especially burst output) with other lights on the market today, the XHP35 HI might seem a bit behind.

That’s probably true, but I’d take an XHP35 HI over an SST-70 any day. I still love my older Cat V6, though it really doesn’t get much use these days.

I just got the catapult pro for father’s day. More lumens and throw, boost driver, SFT70, a full 9 minute turbo (it gets hot but it runs), and a head that doesn’t roll off the table. All around prefer it the v6, it’s worth the extra 20 bucks.

I still really enjoy the thrunite catV6. I have kept around an xhp35 HI version for awhile now. Even though I have an equal size Emisar D1s with Sft40, I still reach for the V6 xhp35 HI more often. The newer one with sst70 isn’t bad, and the new pro model with sft70 is a beast. If you want a powerful and fully regulated smaller thrower, you really can’t go wrong with the V6.
