Sad. I was at HP for the first time this summer and Comet really surprised me with how much of a wild ride it delivered, mostly due to the buzz bars allowing you to get thrown around. It really won’t be the same without them.

Great report, I was there this weekend for the ACE event and I agree with a lot of what you said. It instantly shot to one of my favorite parks just on virtue of the incredible ops alone, and the great ride lineup and atmosphere is a cherry on top. Shame you just missed Primordial, it’s definitely not a top tier ride but it is quite unique and worth checking out once the crowds for it start dying down if you’re ever back.

I’ve been on both and they are good in different ways. Impulse has a much tighter layout whereas as OP mentioned Wicked really dies off after the midcourse and just sort of meanders back to the station. Wicked’s vertical launch is amazing though and the first drop gives much more intense airtime. Wicked does have a slight rattle at points, but I can’t say I noticed much of a rattle when I rode Impulse either.

PS: Yes you must get out to Lagoon. It is seriously one of the best parks in the country. Best ops I have ever seen by a mile, beautiful grounds and atmosphere, happy employees, and a wonderful varied ride lineup. It’s a perfect version of the traditional amusement park, right up there with Knoebels.

From what I understand, the LSM fins require perfect alignment to launch (hence the constant issues from the shifting wooden structure), while a chain lift will have a much higher tolerance. I do agree that the should just replace the entire thing with ibox track, and a steel structure for the lift, at this point, but anything that gets it to be reliably operational is certainly welcome.

This is actually a really good replacement for the bobsled, especially considering a lot of people seemed to think the space would just be used for a water park expansion.

Yikes. I feel like it’s pretty clear that CF skimping on maintenance during Covid was a large factor in this incident.

Worthless leeches. Preservation of media is so important, otherwise so much of our history will be lost to these greedy corporations.

So glad they were able to get this back open reasonably quickly. Rode it for the first time recently a couple weeks before the crack was found and it immediately went to my #1 spot.

The 95 degree drop is definitely nice to have, you do feel it on Dr Diabolical. Although it’s still a bit neutered with the vest restraints. What I really would have loved to see is a dive coaster that doesn’t immediately go into an immelman for once!

This is my worst nightmare on any spinning flat ride. I would be projectile vomiting everywhere.
