Top clubs typically overperform their xG and xGa (and thus their xPts) by quite a bit because they have the best strikers and keepers. So what Leverkusen is doing is actually in line with the quality of their squad, it’s Bayern which is actually underperforming due to defensive lapses in key moments. This notion is also confirmed by Bayern’s fantastic GD.

With a title race which was decided by GD, any single point could have swung it. The ref decision in the Bochum game was a travesty, but it’s to be expected to be on the receiving end of such a decision over the course of a whole season. I’m focusing on the points dropped which were your own fault, where you had your fate in your own hands and just dropped the ball.
To be fair, it’s well possible that the 4 points you guys dropped against relegation candidates Bochum and Heidenheim are gonna cost you at the end of the season.
It reminds me heavily of how you lost 2:3 against Bremen, at home, after leading 2:0 until the 90th minute last season. Back then, everyone was saying “what a fuckup, inb4 this costs you the title”. And in the end, that’s exactly what happened.
Yeah, wasn’t the common take just two years ago that Serie A and La Liga had basically switched styles, with Serie A having become an offensive-minded, high-scoring league while La Liga had become very defensive? Seems like both leagues have reverted back to their old defaults. (The Bundesliga was always a high-scoring league, it’s just extra spicy this season.)
