I did the same! The Pros are 100% worth the cost difference, IMO. Though I do wish there was a way they could’ve incorporated the “wingtip” design of the A series ear tips into the Pro design, as that was a really comfortable fit. Everything else, including the reliability of the charger, is a straight upgrade.

I’ve got a set of Pixel Buds A Series that seem to have painfully weak magnets, causing the buds to constantly lose contact with the charging pins. And since they’re always turned on when disconnected from the charger, this means my buds will randomly pair to my phone even though they’re both in the case, muting my sounds and preventing me from hearing notifications when I’m not wearing the buds. It’s super frustrating. I feel your pain.

Just to nitpick, but open source != secure. Things like the XZ backdoor can still happen to just about any open source project (and quite likely have, and have yet to be discovered). While open source allows for more security in a project in many situations, it doesn’t inherently guarantee security.

No matter what software you use, you’re having to place a certain amount of trust in the developer. And for a lot of people, it’s easier to place that trust in a group that has an established reputation, such as Microsoft or Apple or Google.

The chain’s owners regularly donate to anti-LGBT organizations. They used to do it through company donations, but after being called out for it they stopped donating through the CFA corporation, but still donate privately to the same organizations.
