I’ll just say it:
Selling useless shit that kills the planet by keeping billions of people addicted to wasting their finite lives is morally wrong.
Nobody involved, whether it’s the company, influencers, or viewers will look back it from their deathbeds and see any good in it whatsoever.
It’s because their whole tone has been completely and utterly miserable. Regardless of how objectively bad the state of everything is, it would have cost them nothing to soothe our morale with a bit of positivity after over a decade of endless bad news.
I use Jami and love it. If you want to use it on a de-googled phone you may not get live notifications though, which is annoying if you want to use it for calls. The simplest solution is to allow it to run in the background but it also allows you to use selfhosted push notifications which is cool. I just let it run an accept the hit to to my phone’s battery. Jami is fairly easy to use and looks friendly too, which is helpful for getting non-technical friends to join you on it.
I struggled with Nextcloud Talk too.
Highly recommend Jami 👍
I think that the ‘mental illness’ epidemic in the broader population is a consequence of it becoming apparent that we’ve built our values and culture on a sham and we’ve gone so far down the road with it that it’s impossible to find our way back. People dont believe the story any more but haven’t yet found another one which is more convincing. I think its a sort of mass nihilism.

Velocity 2x - extremely fun fast paced 2d space shooter & platformer. Is extremely rewarding when you start to get to good at it and learn the levels.
-
Muramasa Demon Blade/Rebirth - also really fun and satisfying skill-based combat game but with some light RPG elements. What I really love about it though is the sheer vibes. Set in feudal Japan with gorgeous artwork and sound/music. Great fun and a piece of art.
What does this mean?
At least they weren’t left at a bus stop this time.
Why not. I know a lot of people are into this.
I’m personally not interested in seeing video clips on Pixelfed, so I hope they can be hidden in account settings.
But respect to Pixelfed developers who seem to do a great job - it’s awesome.
Edit: looked properly at loops and it looks like it’s a totally separate thing to Pixelfed. Happy days!
