I made a similar observation about Chaos before on Reddit’s Sigmarxism. As I recall, it wasn’t appreciated.
I mean, I left Reddit over Sigmarxism becoming increasingly liberal and hostile to “tankies”, so I wouldn’t call myself brave, lol. It was the last sub I could enjoy my hobbies and be a commie in, and they ruined it, going from an increase in Black Army/Makhno worship, to actively dehumanizing and demonizing “Stalinists”. “Don’t punch left” my ass.
Glad to see the community is alive here, though.
I’ve never seen anyone claim cis is a slur, and I’m cis myself.
I can see why there are a lot of famous disillusioned/defecting Bolsheviks the West likes to cheer about. If I were sold on such an optimistic ideal and then had to deal with the realities and limitations of material conditions, I’d probably be pretty doubtful, too. One of the lessons we learn with hindsight, I suppose. In a way, I suppose I was one of those doubting idealists before I fully came over to Marxism-Leninism.
I’ve seen the effects of that last part firsthand. I’m friends with a lot of left-leaning people, particularly college friends in the biological sciences. It’s a no brainer to be anti-capitalist as a bio/ecol major, of course, but they spouted vaguely eco-fash narratives about developing countries. Most libertarians and anarchists I’ve met hold similar views about China, India, etc., being major environmental threats and overpopulated, and that the best solution is a decentralized society and smaller global population. I don’t think they’re even thinking about what that actually means. Like, all the dots are there, but they refuse to connect them.
I doubt they’re feds. Living in the US, I can guarantee that the level of indoctrination here is so absolute, you don’t need to hire or recruit people to spread the propaganda. The kind of messages and symbols used in children and family shows, what they spin in the history books for public and private schools, and the news we’re bombarded with daily, and how its filtered through social media, all reinforce the same narratives and prejudices, raising generations that don’t even need to be paid to make propaganda - they think it’s the truth. There are whole swathes of the population who think they’re fighting some great crusade against tyranny by shitposting about China online.
It’s annoying, and they are a threat to our ability to come together and communicate, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the feds are even trying with them. The anti-communist hate in the US - and the racism against Chinese and Russians - is intense enough that they don’t have to do anything other than keep the news cycles going. The libs do the rest.
Tbh, I see more posts on here about the war in Ukraine than Xinjiang lately. We only ever talked about it because liberals were obsessed with creating a genocide narrative. Now that their short attention spans have moved on to the next act of dehumanization, why would we bother talking about something we know isn’t real? The only reason we ever have to discuss half the mainstream topics about China is to deconstruct the myths around them.
Not that these “researchers” would know that.
Together, we can make Outer Heaven a reality, I’m sure.
