I’m a former beehaw user and I honestly think they made the right call for their space. They want it to be safe and inclusive for everyone, so the large influx of users at l.world and s.i.j.w was leading trolls to beehaw in droves. No, they don’t intend to defederate from all instances. In fact, this defederation is most likely temporary until they either get more moderators, or the other two instances settle down some.

Or, more likely, just quickly create another user and continue to harrass Blahaj. You are correct in that lemmy needs better admin tools. However, when Reddit was young it also didn’t have very good admin tools. The devs probably couldn’t have predicted this massive influx of users, so they didn’t put as much time into the administration tools.

Honestly I hope so. I like this little corner of the internet. What the mods of beehaw do is entirely up to them. If they wish to keep themselves defederated that is fine. They know that what they did was a basic nuke to their instance. They were struggling and made the right call.

I’m not on l.world. Even so I should be able to visit the main instance and see the top posts.

Yep, used another browser and it works fine. Weird.

Yes you should be able to edit the comments. But those edited comments will remain in those other servers. Also if you make a ton of comments do you really want to edit them all?

So any “profit” is being redirected to the development of Lemmy? Am I reading the post right?

Honestly I’d rather have a smaller community to interact with. Less bullshit that way.

Was about to say that there is no cutoff age. I distinctly remember my grandfather playing RPGs on the Super Nintendo when I was a kid. That man played most of his life and well into his older years. Do what you love to do man. Ignore those who don’t appreciate that you have a hobby you actually enjoy.

Agreed. The only benefit I really see from sustained growth is the growth of smaller sub-communities. Something like /c/vivariums or /c/modeltrains. The larger lemmy is the more likely there will be fresh content in those smaller communities.
