Is this bot really needed anymore? I mean Lemmy now embeds tags into the posts, probably could be better at doing that but still.

Honestly I think the idea that we’re anti-gun is projection by right-wingers who are anti-gun because they want police and government to have more control. They won’t admit it though because they believe that they should have guns to fight against us, but if they beat us, I guarantee they’d show their anti-gun side more prominently.

Oh for sure. The name bot or spam defense is really a lie or doublespeak, their real purpose is anti-competition by automatically banning people who post in different subreddits. Combating spam isn’t their real purpose (they just say that because you can’t openly violate moderator CoC, you can only do it if you say you aren’t doing it), it’s making people afraid to visit competing subreddits or punish people for using subreddits the mods of the current subreddit hold a grudge against.

Also in the early days content federation was very poor (it still is sometimes) and multiple accounts were a necessity because if the instance federation was broken or someone wasn’t subscribed to that community on your end it just didn’t exist, was inaccessible, or was completely empty. So it makes sense to have multiple accounts.

Also instances do die. Many of the instances that started up when Lemmy first became popular aren’t around anymore. Big players still are but the really small no-name ones like (i.e Lemmy.ninja, unilem.org, etc.) don’t exist anymore. Having multiple accounts safeguards against that by having redundant ones that will still be there when and if the others disappear.

Here’s a good tip, block all moderation bots on Reddit. That stops them from doing actions they aren’t entitled to as moderators like DMing you or checking post history outside of their subreddits.

These are what I would call ban-by-association bots and I recommend blocking all these and any others you come across as it’ll decrease the amount of erroneous bans like this you receive on Reddit. There’s no easy way to identify them reliability so look through the moderators list before posting on any given sub and block ones that seem suspicious.

Also yes I’m aware this will help spammers and trolls and I don’t care, Reddit needs to die and people need to move on, spam helps loosen network effect by making it unbearable for normies, and even more unbearable for power users (the people who post the content that gets consumed). This information is way more valuable for users to counter abusive mod practices (like banning by association automatically) than it is harmful via the spam it creates as a byproduct.

Man being unironically Anti-gun is so cringe. Like really if you’re anti-gun you almost certainly believe that people shouldn’t be allowed to defend themselves and therefore should instead rely solely on the police for their own protection, because that’s who you’ll rely on now if you can’t defend yourself.

They’re destroying whatever credibility they might’ve had by acting like trolls. Like at this point they might as well be posting racist wojak memes in these cards.

It really doesn’t help their cause or make people want to believe them, and even to normies it comes off as extremely hard grasping. It makes them look weaker. It only helps the cause for people who already onboard, which is useless because those people are already onboard, it’s preaching to the choir.

In Markdown you need to add a blank line between the quoted section and your response to it otherwise your response will be included in the quote.

Also need an option to report to only admins, since mods which are abusive can just dismiss every report. Possibly even abuse the reporter. It happened to me earlier when someone created a community to harass me and pinged me on every post.

Being able to bypass mods is crucial in situations like that.
