Yeah, there’s definitely a shift towards more reactionaries now on Reddit. People saying the French Revolution was bad and monarchist comments in the soccer sub.
fr, the main enemy is at home. It’s the task of the workers in the West to dismantle NATO and Western Imperialism. It cannot be defeated by losing an inter-imperialist war. If two imperialist camps fight they may establish a new imperialist hegemonic power but it’s not in our interest to just change the imperialist powers but to abolish them.
The only way to achieve actual peace in this war is for the working class to unite against the ruling class. Unfortunately, the “left leaders” and so called “Communist parties” in Ukraine and Russia commit to a disgusting Burgfriedenpolitik just like the Social democrats did in WW1 supporting their national bourgeoisie in agitating the working class to commit fratricide.
The same disgusting position is held by many so called “leftists” in the West just with the exact same argument of the SPD in WW1 to “spread progressive politics” via imperialist domination of “totally more reactionary and evil than us” Russia.
There isn’t a good side in this conflict. NATO doesn’t care about Ukraine they just want to weaken Russia and Russia is trying to defend their imperialist ambitions. Anyone having any delusions about Putin being a genuine anti-imperialist should just listen to him condemning Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution.
I mean, the DPRK is about as close as any other country to mine
I guess that means you’re in Japan, right? Sorry for asking you something only semi-related to the topic but are you part of an organization? I may live a part of my life in Japan due to my SO and I already want to get an overview of the political landscape. Though I’m somewhat afraid of the fact that Japan doesn’t provide full democratic rights to foreigners like the McLean case has shown.
It depends on your personal situation but en general, I’d say helping to spread the revolution in your own country would be more beneficial. A revolution can not succeed in the long run to establish Socialism when it’s isolated in one country and also the momentum of a successful revolution in a neighboring country can be incredibly powerful. Just look at the revolutionary shockwave that the bolshevik revolution sent through Europe.
I can start a bit: workers.org is affiliated with the Workers World Party
And for the suggested German ones: “junge Welt” is ranging from far left social democracy to classic ML.
demvolkedienen.org seems to be some kind of Maoist (no surprise with that name)
Indymedia is open to everyone so every part of leftism is represented
taz is social democratic/left liberalism
neues Deutschland is left wing social democrats
I’d argue that it is fine to include the social democratic sites. If you’re aware of their position you can still get the necessary information out of their articles and they usually have a higher budget than far left ones.
Also I can recommend to read a serious bourgeois newspaper (not pure propaganda rags like the Sun) to every comrade. The bourgeoisie isn’t stupid so they have papers that tell the truth on many things. Their analysis and “solutions” are obviously different but the information is still valuable. Also it’s good to know how the bourgeoisie judges the situation. Know your enemy.
To pay my 5€ into the Phrasenschwein/overused phrase piggy:
“There is no ethical consumption under capitalism”
As Marxists we’re not opposed to the individual bourgeois and landlord on a personal emotional basis but we oppose the bourgeois class and its system on the basis of class struggle and from the perspective that only the proletariat can abolish capitalism.
So it’s not a question of who’s “a real Worker” or who lives an ascetic life but what you’re doing and who you’re supporting.
Marx, Engels, Lenin and other great theorists of Marxism were born into wealthy/non-working class families. It’s only natural to a point since it’s easier to develop theory if you’re not working in a factory the whole day.
Try to utilize the extra time to organize/read theory etc.
Maybe it would be best to write the organization/affiliation/standpoint (or if applicable the specific ideology) next to the sites. Would be good to know when reading the articles to have some context.
Antideutsche (Anti-Germans) claiming that Israel and the US are inherently antifascist and that almost any kind of anti-capitalism is antisemitic.
