I can strongly recommend Prism! Even though you might not want to install more mods right now, I bet you will in the future. The are LOTS of very well made Minecraft (client side) mods, for having a better playing experience.
And having that neatly sorted into instances with seperate .minecraft folders is bliss. Also if you want to change version from time to time, for example to 1.8.9, it does that too.
No, but they all now have plan on how to move.
Just like the music they’ll never put in an advertisement. Also, don’t watch advertisements.
