Facebook is big in paintball circles. As much as I hate to say it their format works exceedingly well for organizing and buying/selling. As long as we censor appropriately it’s arguably the best format we’ve had thus far and I’m not sure anyone would be willing to part with it for a new platform.
I brought !paintball@midwest.social over, although I’m not expecting a large turnout. While they are participating in the blackout, I don’t know that many will seek an alternative and will probably just want to play more…
I don’t think this is the death of Reddit, but I do think it’s the dumbing down of Reddit. A lot of the power users that spend all day interacting and posting are going to be the ones leaving. Reddit will turn from a social community back into a simple link aggregator with people posting articles and having the same discussions over and over again in the comments.
