TOO many times! Took a while to learn that it’s ok to stand up for yourself, especially with “friends”

Yeah, that book is brutal. I never read it to my kids, didn’t dig the message of “give of yourself, even unto your eventual death, because you like someone - whether or not they seem to appreciate you!” I do like Uncle Shelby’s ABZ Book though!

My kids made plans with their friends, left the house for a while, and let me get in some alone time for playing retro remakes on the PS5.

I think the judges would also have accepted an eggplant in place of the pointing finger.

But pretty spot-on, in the second response - that’s how I remember it working, anyway!

The Midwest US had a big derecho that blew through a couple years ago and knocked over probably half the trees in my part of the state. Some communities were without power for weeks, it was a mess.

I used to browse Reddit multiple times a day, but so far I haven’t been back since the blackout started.

It took a little figuring out at first, but I really like the community “here”, So far!

Three weeks ago, I totally would have… Apollo was life! Now, I don’t think anything could lure me back…

With Spez’s comments about how Reddit has all this data, and “we’re not going to just give that away for free”, I think anyone left on that platform is going to get sold so hard to anyone with two nickels to rub together, that they will effectively have zero privacy or anonymity… no thanks, Spez.

There’s a darker aspect to it too, because the church elders know that the people they visit are not likely to be receptive, and many of them will be outright rude.

Debriefing the returning members is a big part of the process, and helps to reinforce the idea that the church is warm and welcoming, while the outside world is cod and uncaring.

I haven’t tried deleting my comments, but I’ve seen a lot of posts about comments being restored, left subs being re-subscribed to, etc… the evidence seems to be mounting that Reddit is trying to prevent the loss of content by keeping users from removing their own content.

I’ve seen people talking about overwriting their content instead of deleting it. I think I’ll go that route myself soon, hopefully that will stay under the radar.
