Don’t care about this whole drama that someone is trying to start. At the end of the day Gnome is just the most comfortable DE for me personally. Plain, simple, beautiful, no cascading dropdowns, no distractions. Customizable just enough. The next option would be XFCE, mainly for a great balance between performance and niceness

It simply is incomprehensible to me how this can even be a controversial or debatable topic. I don’t know if you’re trolling or what, but racism is racism. And yes, historically oppressed groups are perfectly capable of being racists. So not to be racists ourselves we should apply equal standards to all groups.

You know they’ll go away if you switch to Linux, right?

Talk to yourself. You can even do that in foreign language if you’re learning it - it helps.

But you are an actual tankie! Stop gaslighting people into being afraid to call immoral tyrant apologists for what they are

I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore gamer. Only play on weekends and almost exclusively SP games. But so far experience is great (Pop OS, NVIDIA GPU, medium tier gaming laptop). Steam games are mostly playable without serious issues (adding some launch parameters or choosing certain Proton version might be advisable for certain games). Emulation also works nice (tried PPSSPP, RPCS3, Yuzu, Cemu). I would say that gaming on Linux is fine, unless you really need to play one of the not fully supported titles (especially ones with those pesky anti-cheats). Couldn’t care less about RTX or HDR (would not work well even on Windows with my rig).

I use Brave as a second browser (mainly to separate different activities) and did not have any issues with it apart from dragging tabs between monitors (it creates an additional empty tab sometimes when doing this). Turned off all unnecessary stuff right when I first launched it and that’s it. No bloat, no issues, just works. Didn’t know about this CEO controversy but seeing as it was a long time ago, don’t think it’s a valid reason to not use Brave. And both logo and name are cool.
It’s a solid option which we don’t really have a lot of in open source space

I honestly think that we should have major instances federated to everyone and instead of complete defederation, provide users with options to block (basically hide) content from certain instances and users from your feed. It would also be crucial to have a separate tab then for all (unfiltered) content. The thing is, one of the main problems with traditional socials is that it is so easy to create a bubble around you and not see anything outside of it. While it’s OK to have personalized feed, it’s also important to be able to see everything the way it is - even with marxists, stalinists, fascists and so on. Maybe having some arguments with them here and there would be good too.
The other viable option is to just leave everything as it is, and retreat to viewing only subscribed content when you feel like it

It’s unimaginably stupid and sad. Those people will face the consequences of human-induced climate change. But you know what? They then will blame someone else for it - secret government experiments, reptiloids, migrants, you name it

Honestly, it does not look like Facebook did something wrong when you read the article. A pregnant woman used a medicine to trigger a miscarriage, then she and her mother got rid of the body. Police knew that they’ve discussed this in Facebook messenger. They contacted Facebook and received chat messages. Then police used those messages to incriminate women according to existing law. The only problem here is that a woman could go to an abortion clinic and do it properly and legally if not for obnoxious laws in some states. But that’s a completely different issue
