I don’t think biden is putting more effort into arresting immigrants. I think its just that biden is having an easier time of it.
Most federal policies are monsterous. Arresting immigrants for immigrating to a country founded by immigrants is a bad thing. Most people are compassionate, and US border policy is not.
People are far more likely to resist a president like trump, who is so enthusiastic about doing the horrible things every government does. During trump we had sanctuary cities regularly in the news, and states and local governments refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement. Trump put an ugly face on ugly policies.
Obama and biden knew not to say the quiet part out loud. They have competent administrators running every department, and they are smart enough to not lead chants about how much they love deportations, so they had a much easier time of it than trump.
Most old systems used two digits for years. The year would go from 99 to 0. Any software doing a date comparison will get a garbage result. If a task needs to be run every 5 minutes, what will the software do if that task was last run 99 years from now? It will not work properly.
Governments and businesses spent lots of money and time patching critical systems to handle the date change. The media made a circus out of it, but when the year rolled over, everything was fine.
He can’t.
The court’s ruling means biden personally can’t be charged with crimes committed in office. The ruling does not grant the executive branch unlimited powers to do anything they want. The ruling doesn’t mean the courts no longer have powers over the executive branch. Courts can still block executive actions.
The ruling gives the president the same immunity that cops and ceo’s have. Any crimes are considered the actions of the organization they are part of. The ruling was a terrible one, but it in no way is out of character for the american legal system.
It does not inspire confidence that they are having this conversation in the press.
