There is a LinusTechTips Video where they build a PC together (the guy from the original verge video) and he explained what happened. Have nothing but respect for that dude for doing that now…
Within the constraints of the job it might be impossible to implement any changes, but do you have any ideas how to keep students engaged for long term projects when they have these 2min-tik-tok attention spans? I’m asking as someone who sees this behaviour in younger colleagues that I try to educate as a senior… :D
also its not just pure “compatibility”, but I had a time when I played vids to my TV over an old laptop (from around 2015). Worked like a charm. But some x265 vids went into full-on stutter mode in scenes where a lot of stuff was happening… was more a nuisance than a dealbreaker, but still, preferred x264 versions if I could get them

Aber ich versteh deinen Punkt. Ich bin auch skeptisch ob wirklich ein dezentrales Netz bei Videos funktionieren wird (oder auch bei anderen Dingen wie lemmy). Aber dann muss sich nur eine Sache plötzlich ändern und alles verschiebt sich unvorhergesehen… ¯\(ツ)/¯
Someone else already pointed towards odysee.com. However, I think it speaks volumes that the best video explaining the concept I found on youtube… even though the exact same creator has a channel on odysee.com as well.
However, there are a couple of youtubers also present on odysee, like “3Blue1Brown”, “Veritasium” or a bit more niche Jack Rhysiders podcast… think I’m going to test this over the couple of days/weeks for a bit
