Telling someone “you claim you have autism” is extremely ableist to all disabled people.

This is actually true. Parents of disabled kids were trying to rally in my country for better school support but unfortunately parents of autistic kids couldn’t take them (and many are autistic too) because of the noise and commotion that revolves around a protest. Those are really triggering circumstances and no one wants to be in pain.

Tell me you’re neurodivergent without telling me you’re neurodivergent

Ok I’m going with my experience here. I’ve been an avid reader of hundreds of books a year since I was a teen. When I had my baby, I wen through a traumatic birth that left me with post partum PTSD. When that happened I couldn’t read anymore. What helped me get back into reading is audiobooks and comics/mangas. 5 years has passed, I’m now mostly recovered from the PTSD but I am not the reader I used to be, I can now read a book now and then, I sometimes read big fanfics because knowing the characters and tags help a lot but audiobooks are really my go to and I can listen a bit everyday. Well, nevertheless, don’t feel bad for not reading, do whatever feels good to you.

I’m using it but I’m a bit disappointed that I have 500+ books that didn’t import and I have to do it manually. They will need to implement something like the librarians role there because the editions are getting messy already, I would be down to help as I did on GR before being bought by Amazon. Well, I’ll keep loging what I read of course and I hope it grows and gets better.

I will add another thing. Many disabled people aren’t working force Because they can’t/there’s no acoomodation, etc What this means is that they don’t generate money And corporations/capitalism don’t care for people who are a burden

This quote brought tears to my eyes. Greed is an amazing thing but community (Lemmy) is an even amazing one. I look forward to build something meaningful here
