I had the same experience with OSM maps years ago, but you’ve convinced me to give it another chance. I’m looking forward to seeing if it handles public transport in Vancouver as well as Google Maps does.

Could be, for sure. I may try to post some things from Lemmy.ca to Kbin later. I was successful in posting from Kbin to Lemmy.ca a few hours ago, so I wonder if there’s a problem in the other direction.

I’m not particularly concerned with how “the kbin user base” looks or any silly tribalism like that tbh. I’m just wondering if/why the issue might be happening. If the string doesn’t appear in the git repo, that’s a useful data point for sure. But plenty of people are confirming that something is going on, so the questions as to 1) what is causing it and 2) why are still out there.

Lee’s is basically the sweet spot of flavour vs affordability for me. I can’t speak to Cartem’s, I don’t have the money to justify the cost.

Right on, all of that makes sense. The issue with #2 is that when I went to Kbin mags via Lemmy, the upper-right menu continued to give a “Subscribe” option (instead of “Unsubscribe” for my subbed Lemmy communities). But I think that might have happened when I’d visit some Lemmy subs as well. Either way, it’s early days, and this is a great new Fediverse app that I plan to use a ton. Thanks again!

Solid start! Questions re subscribed communities:

  1. Does Connect only display 10 communities under “subscribed” in the left-hand menu? There are a LOT of subscribed communities missing from mine. (Also, I believe that only communities from my home instance are showing up, but not 100% sure of that.
  2. Does Connect understand subscriptions to Kbin magazines that one subscribes to thru Lemmy? I don’t think it recognizes my Kbin magazine subs, but I may be wrong.

Either way, this strikes me as an improvement over Jerboa, so I will be using it. Thanks for your hard work on this!

Nope, I can’t risk not being fully aware of my surroundings.

Or – and I hope this sinks in one day – it could be that using terms like “delusional” and “coward” to describe people you disagree with is a great way to convince people that you’re not a jerk worth engaging with. Which is why they block you. Like I am now.

If all you can do with an honest answer to your question is insult the other person for their perspective, then don’t be surprised to find yourself blocked on here by a lot of folks pretty quickly.

EDIT: So I peeked into your very brief post history, and sure enough you’re already complaining about people being “quick to ban or block” and “debate meeeeee.” So while I know you won’t accept this criticism, let me assure you that your comment above provides nothing of substance to debate. You’re being blocked by people because (1) you’re being rude, and (2) no one owes you their attention, much less their content.

Personally, I mostly post from CBC because I find it to be a regularly published source of reliable news. If you like others, post others and see how they’re received.
