Are we including the effects of Global Capitalism? On top of mortality from global poverty, itās hard to tally all the deaths from capitalist Imperialism, Colonialism, and Neo-colonialism.
If one starts from the assumption that extreme poverty is the natural state of humanity, then it may appear as good news that only a fraction of the global population lives in extreme poverty today. However, if extreme poverty is a sign of severe social dislocation, relatively rare under normal conditions, then it should concern us that - despite many instances of progress since the middle of the 20th century - such dislocation remains so prevalent under contemporary capitalism. Depending on the subsistence basket one uses to measure poverty, as of 2008, between 200 million and 1.21 billion people live in extreme poverty (Moatsos, 2017, Moatsos, 2021; see also our discussion in Appendix VI).18 While direct comparisons with the wage data are difficult because of the variety of baskets used, this suggests that under contemporary capitalism hundreds of millions of people currently live in conditions comparable to Europe during the Black Death (Figure 4, Figure 5), the catastrophes induced by the American genocides (Figure 7) and the slave trade (Figure 9), or famine-ravaged British India (Figure 11). To the extent there has been progress against extreme poverty in recent decades, it has generally been slow and shallow.

I Strongly disagree. The capitalist mode of production is axiomatic to Liberalism. Private ownership of the means of production is what is being referenced, not personal property.
I also strongly disagree about a capitalist structure being an inevitably and impossible to eliminate in the modern age. The alternative, a socialist mode of production, where companies are owned and governed democratically by all the workers, is completely viable. Itās a democratization of the workplace. People over profits instead of the current profits over people.
Locke saw individual liberty as defined through private property, contract, and marketāin other words, by individual ownership of economic possessions that could not be arbitrarily usurped by the state. Freedom for Locke amounted to more than absence from external restraint; it also meant living in conformity with a nonarbitrary law (to his left critics, a protocapitalist law) to which the individual had consented.
Both Classical Liberalism and Neoliberalism are pro-capitalist ideologies. While the Republican party is more conservative in both social and economic issues, both parties still operate within the framework of neoliberalism.
In America we only have the Democrat and Republican Parties which are usually labeled as Liberal and Conservative respectively. Since the Democratic party is relatively left of the Republican party, their is the conflation of the label Liberal and Left in America. But thatās not really accurate when looking at the Ideologies of the parties.
While there is Social Democracy, which is like a tamed capitalism where some of the profits are redirected towards social welfare. Iād say itās anti-capitalism, which is inherent to both Socialism and Anarchism, that aligns the different types of leftist ideologies.

Terrorism as a tactic of the Occupier compared to the Occupied
I donāt really see the use of the labeling of terrorist here, itās reductive to a detriment. I could just as easily call Israel a terrorist state, and by looking at cases of actual acts of terror, itās clear that Israel does magnitudes more. But while acknowledging acts of terrorism is important, giving the label of terrorist to an entire group is not really useful.
Itās much more useful to look at the aims and actions, in which we see that Israel is a Settler Colonialist Ethnostate with actions of Ethnic Cleansing, Occupation, and Apartheid. We see that the aims of resistance groups are anti-colonialist, with actions of ending Occupation. We see that one is a reaction to the other, Israelās perpetual violence towards native peoples is the underlying cause of these conflicts. Solutions to ending the violence of anti-colonialism can only come from ending the underlying violence of the colonialism.
Both the Occupier and the Occupied can and do use acts of terrorism to further their aims, but the aims are diametrically opposed. The aim of the occupier is to continue the occupation, that requires violence to maintain. The aim of the occupied is to end the occupation, by any means possible.
We see that permanent occupation develops into an Apartheid, as the settlers / occupiers have rights upheld by the State and Military, while the natives / occupied have no rights and subjected to violence from both the Settlers and Military. The State, who holds the monopoly on power, uses terrorism to suppress resistance to the occupation in order to maintain it. The occupied, having no power, uses terrorism as a means to resist the occupation.
Israel has no interest in peace, it has interest in land grabbing, which is in complete opposition to peace. This is fundamental to Zionism. Which is why an end to Zionism and a regime change, where a Secular Bi-National One-State that gives equal rights to Palestinians and Israelis is the only way for the conflict to really end. Not only with Palestinian resistance, but with all resistance groups that were created by Israeli occupation.

It says āwithhold weaponsā in the context of Conditional Military Aid, which is where weapon shipments are withheld as long as Israel violates International Humanitarian Law, which they are.
We, the US, are also continuing to violate International Humanitarian Law, as well as the Leahy Law, by continuing to send weapons unconditionally.
It was a single shipment, all others were not paused. Plus they continued with that single shipment anyway, regardless of the war crimes. Who gave the backlash? Also, 51% of Jewish Americans Support Withhold Arms Shipments to Israel. Painting the Democrats decisions to continue unconditional aid as if itās in the best interest of the majority of Jewish Americans is untrue. Judaism is not Zionism.
Blowback is the violent retaliation that happens after repeatedly attacking Civilian populations with overwhelming force. Continuing to send billions worth of weapons unconditionally for a genocide certainly isnāt helping prevent blowback.
30 days after acknowledging that Israel has committed violations of international humanitarian law and is withholding aid to a starving population is insane, especially since it places the window until after the election when people want to see a change now. Those people canāt wait 30 days. The US basically gave Israel a 30-day window to continue violating International Humanitarian Law and starving millions of people before even the semblance of consequences. And it isnāt conditional aid, itās āpossible consequencesā while the Administration simultaneously said that the warning was 'not met as a threat. ā
Rhetoric is not action. The actions of the Biden Administration have certainly not been in favor of a permanent ceasefire.
The rhetoric coming out of the White House, when it has been focused on peace or restraint, rather than continuous war, has been undercut at every turn by its actions. The constant supply of weapons ā $17.9 billion of bullets, bombs, shells, and other military aid in the past year ā has allowed Israel to keep waging its war on Gaza, and in recent weeks, expand that war to Lebanon and threaten to escalate its conflict with Iran. Despite documentation of U.S. weapons being used in probable war crimes, and credible allegations that Israel is committing genocide in its war on Gaza, the bombs have continued to flow.
One Year of Empty Rhetoric From the White House on Israelās Wars
Obviously Trump is significantly worse. Iāve never once told people to vote for Trump. Literally the opposite, Iāve only expressed that people should vote for Harris despite the Democratic Administrations unconditional support for this genocide. I will continue to criticize them for it until they change course.
Polling indicates that she would certainly get significant gains in Michigan and Pennsylvania, along with all the other swing states. So I doubt polling is her reason for her stance on Israel and Conditional Military Aid
