Absolutely great news. RedReader was my go-to app for a while now. The absolute dedication to function over form is/was praise-worthy.

Slay the Spire is a big one. Casually smacking out wacky runs during a lunch break is the bee knees.

Brotato is good for this too, even if the game can be a bit repetitive. I wish it would grow even bigger with more items, more deep mechanics, more everything. Thank goodness there’s modding.

As a kid, Alien versus Predator co-op survival maps were a big one. Mindless mayhem clears the mind like nothing else.

Yeah, I think that loosing access to great communities like OSR, Boardgames, RPG, Horror and horrorlit will hurt, but I’m hoping to find new ones too, with fresh new people and new ideas.

Event Horizon was a blast after taking a year-long hiatus from watching it. The atmosphere is palpable!

Man, this dude is on a roll! I’ve been loving the mew wave of Cage movies, ever since Mandy popped on my radar. Only “Willy’s Wonderland” hasn’t really landed for me, and even that movie had really fun moments.

Feels like we are in the middle of a massive redemption arc of somekind.

Only we can make that live, which in deathless slumber lies.

So yes, I hope this place will thrive.

I’ve read Hollow Places and Twisted Ones, and liked both. The writing was pretty smooth and the folklore-ish mystical events were cool. Kinda felt like reading modern fairy tales, or maybe a more horrifying take on magical realism ála Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Library At Mount Char had a similar feel, where the mystical slots into the mundane quite seamlessly.

Do you like the blasting technicality or the strong thematic elements? As for sheer insanity, not a lot comes close to Archspire.

Mithras is one that comes to mind, and it used to be a strong recommendation back in the day.

If you like weird, atonal music, give Psyopus a try. It’s almost like a post-modern deconstruction of what metal is. An interesting listen at least.

Braindrill and Mortician are pretty out there too, with Braindrill focusing more on speed and Mortician going for the whole horror movie-worship style.

Kronos, Akercocke and Monolith Deathcult have those strong thematic vibes to them.

Good stuff, good stuff. It would be great seeing them live at some point.

I’d love to hear more about your favourites too! Give a penny, take a penny! Especially stuff that isn’t as over-the-top as Psyopus and the craziest stuff Archspire puts out.

Like, I feel that Nile, Origin, Rings of Saturn and their like are at their best, when they blend in some harmony, coherent structure and melody as a contrast to the hammering.
