Mistakes
I won’t pretend I’m knowledable enough to debate the pros and cons of defederating in the fediverse. I’ve just been blocking communities centered on topics that I don’t want to see, including the ones you’re talking about. I’ve been on the internet since the early days though, so a drawing before I can block the communities in question isn’t going to scar me.
It seems that jerboa doesn’t have PM capability yet, but I’ll send you a message when I get home, I don’t mind helping with the workload.

There is a lot of that going around, and it’s my opinion that anti-intellectualism and that form of apathy normally go hand in hand. We see it with with every sort of cause that you could name, and nearly every sector of the market.
For me I have to ask where it is. Literally. Ask out loud while I’m looking for it, typically to an audience of no one, but sometimes my gf, “Where in the FUCK is my ITEM?”. Without fail, my eyes will immediately land on the subject of the rhetorical query, and it is always on a surface that I have very nearly, but not quite, comprehensively searched multiple times.
Not to sound elitist but one of the main reasons I want nothing to do with it is the almost guaranteed influx of normies and casuals. Additionally, Meta does not want to see the fediverse or any other social network grow, they want everyone to use their network and pay them.
Thanks for posting this. A lot of people seem super unaware of how these tech giants operate and the risk involved in letting them sit at the table.
He’s really not making it any harder to walk away is he? The ability to remove bad moderators is long overdue, but this is most transparently bad faith implementation that I think I could imagine.
