Are you me? I felt the exact same way. Then if it hurts, you have to hide those feelings too because people will make fun of you for being “too sensitive.” “It’s just the internet, get over it.” Rejection sensitivity is real and it sucks. I quit commenting on Reddit because of that. I never understood why people think the internet isn’t a real place, so it’s okay to be cruel. We may be somewhat anonymous here, but we’re still people with feelings. If you’re mentally in a bad place, little things can really feel big. They add up.

I recently got on meds for my ADHD, too. It’s helping me a lot, I hope you’re having good luck with yours too. :)

Also if anyone reads a comment from me and I sound like an asshole, please let me know! It’s almost certainly not intended, especially anywhere on Beehaw.

This kind of energy is why I like it here on Lemmy, and especially Beehaw. Being nice should be the default. On Reddit, I got downvoted so many times just for asking a question in good faith. Then if getting downvoted bothers you, you get mocked further. “It’s just the internet, grow up” kind of stuff. Downvoting may not be a big deal to some people, but some don’t understand that it can have an effect on your mental health to feel rejected so much. You don’t know what other people are going through, having a heavily downvoted comment could even be a last straw for someone. Getting constantly insulted and downvoted can feel like the whole world is against you if you’re in a bad place. And a lot of people are in a bad place, especially since 2020. A lot of people are lonely and only have the internet to talk to, and if the internet rejects you too? It hurts. It’s not that hard to be nice, especially to people who mean well. I hope Lemmy stays like this as much as possible.

I would also like to be notified if I sound like an asshole about anything. It sounds dorky, but spreading even small moments of positivity really does have an effect on our world. We can see the damage that rage bait has done to people. Little things add up and they do have an effect on all of us. Let’s try to spread kindness as much as possible.

I’m not sure if this fits what you’re asking for, but maybe State of Decay or State of Decay 2?

That explains why I can still see Beehaw and post comments through Jerboa, I was already logged in. I’m getting a few little bugs though, but that’s to be expected with a new platform so I’m not too worried about it. It’s kinda fun watching a new platform get started.

I’m getting this on Jerboa after their latest update today, I’m guessing it’s temporary while we’re upgrading but just wanted to point it out in case it was helpful in some way.

I have auto update turned off for apps, so I didn’t get the last update for Infinity and I can still use it to see Reddit, for now. Once it dies I’m out though. I can’t imagine they will be able to get enough subscriptions to support the app, so I’m not really sure what the goal is here.

The Infinity listing in the Play store links to this post that has a bit more info (warning: Reddit link) https://www.reddit.com/r/Infinity_For_Reddit/comments/147bhsg/the_future_of_infinity/

Even the people subbed to r/Infinity_For_Reddit are saying they won’t buy a subscription. Wouldn’t Infinity be racking up a huge bill from Reddit once the API change goes into effect? There’s no way subscriptions will cover that so I don’t understand why they’re doing this.

It feels like the Titanic is an irony magnet. It’s like some cosmic force is still really salty that they called it an “unsinkable ship.”

For example, some of the passengers on this missing submarine:

  • The founder of the submarine company who complained about safety regulations, now lost and trapped in his unsafe vessel.
  • The Guinness World Record holder for longest time spent traversing the deepest part of the ocean in a single dive will now likely be at the bottom of the ocean forever.
  • The director of the company who owns the salvage rights to the Titanic, the company that has brought many artifacts to the surface, now likely leaves its director on the ocean floor with the wreckage.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of people on posts like this saying they were giving out all of the awards they’ve saved up over time before deleting their Reddit accounts. I don’t think this is all brain dead people paying the company they’re boycotting. They’re using the awards they have left to bring attention to the protest. I had a bunch of awards to give out from when someone randomly gave me gold but I never gave Reddit any money.

I agree with all of this. I definitely think at least some of them are astroturfing. The mods from r/adviceanimals got kicked and ever since then, they mostly post memes that say things like “the official app isn’t so bad, you guys!” We all know u/spez isn’t above editing comments for petty reasons and since he got caught, I’m sure he’s more careful about not getting caught editing things to suit him now. I wonder if the voting system is rigged, too, at least in some subs.
