When I was in college, my group of friends were mostly libs and libertarians (I know) and the mother of one of these people once went on a rant in front of us about how Hamas and Hezbollah were going to team up and destroy Israel and kill all the Jews. After we left the house, I remember all of us just laughing at her and saying “what a fucking stupid take that was” despite not necessarily having the same opinions about Israel or having good opinions on anything else. But, we all knew this was stupid.
Having not read the article or knowing much about Lebanon, I’m going to assume this is still an extremely stupid and desperate thing to posit?
What happened?
As someone who attends music events in New York frequently, the primary concern the security guards care about is that you’re not bringing a gun into the venue. Secondary concern being hard drugs, depending on the venue and act. Msg definitely does not want drugs. Thinking that the underpaid and overworked security staff has a political agenda is absurd when they already have to deal with your bridge and tunnel antics.
Trying to keep this as vague as possible: family member on the west coast runs music events at a bar and has for a long time. Taylor Swift played said event when she was really young and she absolutely bombed. Apparently the owner of the bar (not my family member) was giving her advice on how what to do to succeed. This drunk hippie probably gave her family some wild ideas and they absolutely ran with them!
Can’t wait until Biden loses Michigan and it costs him the election!
I thought the Era of “how millennials killed x” was dead. I’m fucking sorry that I don’t make enough money to partake in the same fucking treats as my parents did.
Gaylor Swift. I heard someone talking about it once and I went down the rabbithole and it’s crazy.
This is a personal one of mine, and it goes hand in hand with all of the dating app theories I saw on here. “call-in” radio shows about bad dates/cheating etc are all about reinforcing traditional values, creating a moral panic about LGBTQ people and non-traditional relationships. These shows are scripted, syndicated and ran on various drive time radio shows across the USA. The “stories” frequently vilify people who don’t fit the trad cis het norm and scare people into assuming that everyone they will try to date is some strawman maniac.
Undoubtedly there are plenty of real life date horror stories. But, dating seems scary enough and shit like this doesn’t make it easier for people to connect.
