The community link isn’t rendering correctly for me on Jerboa. The c/ isn’t attached so if you try to click on the link it tries to send an email.

If you haven’t read the Culture books, you should check them out. It isn’t hard scifi, but lots of cool ideas and great storytelling.

Not just your packages, but all your config as well.

Also, I believe updates are transactional, so if something goes wrong in the middle it can just abort and your system isn’t left in an inconsistant state. And if an update breaks something you can easily roll back to a previous version.

Fasterthanlime has some good rust stuff but I don’t think it’s good for listening to while running. There’s too much going on on the screen. Definitely check out his channel, though. He has some nice articles on his website too, which are like his videos but go more in depth.

My experience with Mastodon was that it’s generally realy nice exxcept

  1. It’s a little quiet, and

  2. Of the conversation that is there, too much of it is about Twitter.

It’s kind of like hanging out with your friend who just had a bad breakup and doesn’t want to talk about anything but their ex.

The Lemmyverse feels kind of like that.

The subreddits I spent most of my time in aren’t here or get about a post a week. If I wanted to read about how spez is a bastard, however, I’d have reading material for months.

I’m generally happy with it, though, and plan to stick around. I just moved from lemmy.ml over to midwest.social, and it seems like a great little community here.

I’m pretty sure that was the idea for the quest pro, too.

My guess is that Meta thought they could deliver high quality passthrough with just the tracking cameras, if not at launch, then later via an update.

They pulled off similar tricks with the Quest one and two, which added link and hand tracking via software updates. Also, Meta knows a lot about computer vision.

Maybe they still will, but the fact that the Q3 has a depth sensor makes me think it turned out to be harder than they thought. They might have been able to pull it off if they had waited for the XR2 gen 2 to be ready, but then Apple would have launched first, and they didn’t want that.

I think they just mean that Linux is gpl and the most popular os in the world and bsd isn’t and isn’t.

Look for a YouTube channel called GDQuest. There’s a Getting Started with Godot tutorial series there. Watch the videos and follow along on your PC, and you’ll learn a lot.
