On the Open Book GitHub I have collections of free books and short stories that are digital only from Tor.com. That’s actually why I wanted to get an eReader, digital only online short stories are winning Hugo Awards now, and then couldn’t decide and got involved with the Open Book is that I wanted a little device to load up with them.
For anyone interested our Discord is here! We’re a fun group of folks and have a couple of other projects. The project is mostly for fun and definitely centered around folks who are maybe trying to break into the hardware and software space with something tangible that they can use and show off, it certainly isn’t financially the best option out there but to learn and grow it’s great fun!

The case doesn’t need any special material so whatever’s cheapest usually works, especially if all you’re worried about is protection and not style. In face you technically don’t even need the case, the one I develop the firmware on is bare, but still, you shouldn’t have to spend more than probably $10 USD, maybe cheaper if you can find a local maker space to help you print it.
The one we use is about $15-$20 USD
You don’t need the know-how compile the firmware! It’s available to drag and drop from GitHub: https://github.com/nvts8a/libros
Whenever I go to fire up some old games the first two, and the two I spend most of my time on are-
Ultimate Domain: a little slow but has an great city building and worker placement system and one of the coolest tech trees I’ve ever seen.
Space Bucks: also a little slow but is essentially a space sci-fi alien commodities shipping simulator. Start on a planet, win bids to ship to and from other planets, buy low and sell high, and improve the planets ability to produce while also improving your space fleet, optimizing for speed, cargo, offensive and defensive abilities.
I love them both so much
A lot of great ones out there but my personal favs probably are Brazil, 12 Monkeys, Fifth Element, Event Horizon, Blade Runner in the “earnest” category, then Tokyo Gore Police, Johnny Mnemonic, Starship Troopers, Tetsuo, Total Recall, RoboCop in the campy/wild/fun category.
