I saw that Beehaw defederated from them, and it’s just confusing to me. There’s all kinds of weird nonsense coming from lemmy.world, that defederation makes complete sense to me, but… what did sh.itjust.works do? They seem fine.
What are the toxic communities? Did I just miss them so far? I really don’t understand.
Also inside the uploaded source code was some GPL 2 source code, which renders the not-very-open WCL moot.
Wait a second. That casts the whole thing in a different light. They’re now obligated to either stop distributing the thing in any form, or else open-source the entire thing whether they want to or not. Right?

And the centrists bought it, and the leftists bought it too, and they never even compared notes to realize they were getting the exact opposite messaging and a good part of all sides of the messaging was made-up emotionally loaded lies tailored to what would make an impact. Most of the stuff about Biden just got reused against Kamala Harris unchanged, and it was so well-worn by that point that it still worked.
And they never paid all that much attention to what they were getting in, when they got him out now I mean her.

What are you talking about? I just tried two test queries on DDG, and neither one had LLM-generated nonsense, and the one that was in double-quotes returned only five results, all of which had the double-quoted phrase and one of which was the thing I was challenging it to find.
Can you give an example of a query where DDG returns LLM results or doesn’t respect your double-quotes?

They’re just holding him upside down and shaking him like a 1930s comic strip about bullies. It’s still important news but that headline is deliberately missing that crucial little bit of scope.
Any third party that’s telling you to vote for them under FPTP, but isn’t heavily promoting RCV to fix the system, isn’t trying to win. They’re trying to spoil the FPTP election.
RCV is already law in a surprisingly large number of places. It may change the majority in the house in this upcoming election, because the difference in vote-counting within the two states that use it for US congressional elections might be enough to change the razor-thin outcome.
RCV is on the ballot, in one form or another, in 7 states and DC this year. Go vote. You might be able to fix the system, and move toward the future that all the people in this thread who are being vocal about Jill Stein say that they want. Remember back when marijuana was illegal? That changed. This can change too, and it would be glorious, for a lot of important goals that a lot of people claiming to support Jill Stein claim they’re supportive of. It would be practical and realistic. It would work.
Anyone in this thread who is saying Jill Stein is extremely important, but haven’t been saying anything about ranked choice voting or changing the voting system to make third parties realistic: Why? What’s your goal, why did you make that decision about your priorities?
The answer is obvious, of course. But it’s fun to ask.
