Nice enough place but people can be so adversirial within in the same city, region or coast depending on the issue at hand. Some really annoying polarising opinions with seemingly no room for negotiation?

Maybe it’s an older generation and rattling their cages though? Here’s hoping.

Used to work at Morrisons and (2 years ago) the deals would be setup to expire on Tuesday and start fresh on a Wednesday for the bulk of them.

Of course there was always exceptions for weekend deals, seasonal deals (think Valentines/Mothers/Fathers day) and the like.

End of year 3 at secondary school we got to go and do fun things for 3 days such as visit big cities tourist attractions/surf the Internet (in old, fight me!) or my personal favourite: go karting 😎

Highly competitive group that had a minor panic when someone crashed and broke the kart in half but the day progressed anyway. I struggled with the pace of some others, got spun out but somehow still qualified for the final.

Close racing all the way before a crash left just 2 of us in contention for the win. I get a bad exit out of the second to last corner, overtaken but there’s a big hairpin coming up. Fake one way, dice the other and on the brakes daringly late but enough to get up the inside and get the lead before the short sprint to the flag. Exhilarating!

Still got the little plastic trophy I won. 26 years on.

(The rest of the kids were assholes afterwards, go figure)

I tried to start playing online mid 2020 (funny that…) and ended up giving up with Roll20 as I just couldn’t get it to work properly.

Foundry dropped in May 2020 and I bought it day one and haven’t looked back. If you have even the slightest technical mindset and like to tinker with things you’ll love it! It has wide support in 1st and 3rd party content, fan made game systems that you’d swear were official products and so many ways to mod and improve how things work and play in your chosen game.

It depends what they asked me to call them really. Other have provided useful answers but honestly I think it depends on your relationship to them.

Alcohol poisoning - drank too much the night before and can’t face the day. They’ll catch up later!

If you must have them with the party you could run them in a supportive role and simply buff the party where possible (bless, guidance) and keep them off the front lines.

If the players trust each other enough you could have one of them run the character in a similar way to lighten your load.

Beyond that others have suggested good ideas: shopping, a job from their holy order, helping someone in town are always classics.

You could perhaps have the guard arrest them for something and have a jail break as well 🤣

The player in question has been very diplomatic in resolving situations and has appealed to enemies sensibilities in the past. Could simply use that as a jumping off point and ‘preview’ of the boss fight I guess?
