Favorite? Pretty much what everybody else says. Portability. Battery life, all things considered. Controls feel great. Amazing handheld for emulation. I have an electric car, and I love being able to use my Steam Deck whenever I’m waiting for my car to charge.
My least favorite? The touchscreen. It’s garbage. I was excited thinking I could play Osu on it. Nowhere close. It’s not really even accurate enough for higher-level Plants vs. Zombies. You’d think a device like the Steam Deck would be great to dual-booted or virtualize Android on, but with the crappy touch screen, I can’t recommend it. But the worst part is trying to use the on-screen keyboard with it. I use my Steam Deck as a PC replacement at work. I’m a sysadmin, I’ve been using Linux for two decades, but the touchscreen makes even the most basic terminal commands painful to type with the OSK. So if you plan on using it heavily as a PC, or doing a lot of tinkering with it like I do, do yourself a favor and get a physical keyboard for it. Bluetooth ones are okay, but having a full-blown keyboard, mouse, and monitor with USB-C dock is definitely nice if you’re using it for more than just a game console.
You’re basically looking for some form of a WYSIWYG editor. Check out Qt Creator, I think you’ll like it.
Also, you haven’t told us which programming language you’re trying to use. Every language has it’s own set of tools.
- Clear all my debts, pay for my kid to go to any college he wants.
- Renovate my house, or buy a new one. My house needs a lot of work but I’ve never had the funds to do much about it. There’s electrical work and plumbing that needs to be done, roof needs to be replaced, hot water heater needs to be replaced, etc.
- Open a computer repair shop. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but computer repair for end users isn’t as profitable as it once was.
- Open a Retro Gaming & Computing museum. With every console you can imagine. And retro computers. And giant CRT televisions and monitors. With a giant collection of games. Everything is plugged in, with multiple controllers, ready to be played! I’d probably have a gallery of pinball tables attached as well.
- I don’t know the details, but I’d try to start some sort of e-waste program that tries to preserve retro tech rather than see it go to a landfill, or even rather than seeing it get scrapped for copper, etc.
There’s an old game I grew up with called Castle of the Winds. You could also move using some other keys or the mouse, but for me my favorite way by far was using the numpad with numlock turned off.
I also used to use the numpad while playing Half-Life, as the person who introduced me to that game swore by remapping all the keys to the numpad.
Pretty much anything that let’s you belt it out and really yell into the mic.
Most songs from Blink-182 are fun to sing.
+1 to Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, that’s a classic.
I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues by Elton John
Either Get Ready to Die or Party Hard by Andrew W.K.
Come to My Window by Melissa Etheridge if you can hit the high notes
Gompie’s version of Who the X is Alice? If you have an audience that doesn’t mind cursing and might have fun singing along.

I personally have both the official dock and this “usb-c hub” made by Anker:

I use the official dock at home, but I use the Anker dock at work. Overall I think I like the Anker one better. It has two HDMI ports that I use with my dual-monitor setup at work. The official dock has one more USB port, but the Anker one includes microSD and SD card readers.
My biggest complaint with the official one is that I couldn’t get it to work right with my dual monitors. I tried using a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. Surprisingly, I managed to get it to work properly in Windows, but never in SteamOS. We have other computers running Debian Linux at work using the same DisplayPort adapters, with no issue.
Not as old, but I miss when Tripp jeans were in style.
Red pill mentality isn’t stupid. If it was, you’d be able to come up with your own counterarguments rather than relying on asking random people on the web.
Now while the red pill mentality does make a lot of valid points, there are some extremists out there that take it too far and are simply woman-haters. And those people are stuck in their ways and not worth arguing with.
