For Fedora, replace the current installer (Anaconda) with the openSUSE Tumbleweed installer.

One of the aspects I love about the openSUSE TW installer is the ability to remove groups of packages for the initial install. This is particularly useful if you never use certain programs or intend to replace them with the Flatpak version.

Turning on the iPhone’s Stolen Device Protection is simple—it’s just one small toggle in your phone’s settings.

There is one crucial detail that the article doesn’t mention: Find My iPhone must be enabled to enable SDP. That is to say, enabling Find My (along with biometric authentication) is a prerequisite for SDP.

The official GrapheneOS Twitter account states the complete opposite on several occasions:

Many people have the misconception that they’re defeating the purpose of GrapheneOS by using privacy invasive apps but in fact the opposite is true. If you want to use those apps, then using GrapheneOS allows you to protect your privacy from them far better than another OS.

GrapheneOS arguably makes the biggest difference for someone who is going to be using a bunch of mainstream apps including very privacy invasive ones. They need features like Storage Scopes and Contact Scopes more.

You’ll substantially benefit from our privacy and security features without making significant changes to your apps. In fact, you’ll benefit more from features like Storage Scopes, Contact Scopes, Sensors toggle, etc. if you use a bunch of very privacy invasive apps.

I watched the first three episodes of the recently released Percy Jackson series.

The book series was a big part of my childhood, and I was mildly excited for the TV series (read: hoped that it was better than the film series).

I’m still debating if I should finish the TV series. I found a particular detail in the third episode that convinced me that I am not the show’s target audience:

At the end of episode three...

I expected Percy to pull a fast one and ship Medusa’s severed head to Gabe. Instead, it looks like he actually shipped it to Olympus.

I use the terminal because it’s always there if the GUI, for some reason, breaks or fails.

For the past few days, I have been experiencing this bug in the Mullvad VPN desktop app that basically renders the GUI inaccessible. Until the Mullvad team releases a fix for this, I now rely on the Mullvad CLI for split tunneling or switching from WireGuard to OpenVPN, tasks for which I previously used the GUI.

This is the case for me when updating my system.

sudo dnf up, type y and press Enter to confirm, and you’re off to the races >>> open Discover, wait for it to load, sit in the “Fetching updates…” window

The Thirteenth Floor (1999) depicts a better story about simulated reality than The Matrix (1999) does.
