So if we expand on this - Pence was afraid for his life. He was afraid of the very agency sworn to protect him. Despite the potential threat to his life, even today he will not directly speak out against the authoritarianism that led to the situation he found himself in. He will not speak out against trump. The most he has done is simply not endorse trump.

So that’s how completely fucked up the republicans are. You can have your life in the balance as one of the literal highest elected officials in the nation, yet you won’t speak out. You won’t try to stop it from getting worse.

This is no different than Stalin’s regime, Mao’s, or any other uber-dictator that caused millions of deaths in the name of power and control.

I cannot possibly emphasize enough how hell-bent on boot-licking dictatorship the Republican Party must be if this is the case.

Harris has done so little I had to think for a second to remember what her name was. Other VP have really gotten coverage, like Pence or Gore. But Harris has really stayed mostly on the sidelines.

I tried to spread it out. I don’t know if Ike was pro-civil rights, but he was certainly an advocate of investing in the country. His battleship speech certainly made him seem like an advocate of social programs.

Most republicans prior to Reagan are more like today’s liberals. They did things like make national parks, codify civil rights, and invest in social programs. Today’s liberals are trying to do what those republicans did - save natural lands, implement social programs, and enhance rights for people.

That said, just because a liberal does some things a conservative might approve of doesn’t make them a Republican, nor would the inverse be true.

But when I take a brake, doesn’t that mean I’m stopping work, hitting the brakes?

Company spyware. We have that on our devices. They used to have an “about” stored locally on the app, but removed it and a web connection is required to view the docs. Basically says it downloads/sees everything on your device and checks for threats. Thing is a few people have been fired for having things in their devices they shouldn’t. I didn’t ask what it was, nor did I hear how these things were “threats”, but nonetheless they were fired. Too many people treat company hardware like “free device, bro!” and put all sorts of personal stuff on the device. Most industries it’s probably not too big of a deal, but for mine if there’s an incident that happens when you were busy watching Netflix or something instead of doing your job you’re fucked. First thing they’ll do is check your device and crowdstrike to see what you were doing, and even if you weren’t watching Netflix all your personal data will be exposed.
