I have zero problems letting r/Blind lead the charge. They did a great job highlighting the failure of exec leadership.
At the end of the day, what Reddit can sell to advertisers are communities of like-minded people who might be willing to buy stuff.
Drive out the community, and what can Reddit sell? Nothing. They should be scrambling to repair the damage done, to keep advertising eyeballs in their ecosystem. r/Blind response shows that they have no clue and no intent to retain users.
In my opinion, the output of the disastrous Zoom meeting with the moderators & community of /r/Blind .
Reddit leadership made it clear that they have nothing but contempt for their users. They essentially refused to answer essential questions for the disabled Reddit community.
I guess Spez thinks nobody will care as long as they get their fill of GIFs and pics? I have no idea. I’m not closing out my account, but whatever reddit intended to sell to me, I’m not buying it.
Even if they did survive and the ballast worked correctly, they would surface quickly (decompression sickness?)
Decompression sickness is a concern only if they suffered compression. But the main problem, as I see it, is that the sub was made from materials that are famously brittle and tend to degrade over many cycles of pressure and release (resin, carbon fiber, etc). So the likely failure mode is catastrophic failure of the sub under pressure.
There’s a reason most deep sea stuff is made out of steel: it’s somewhat ductile and recovers from compression with minimal change in properties.
Subreddits belong to the community of users…
Spez, read that again. Slower this time.
"Me too"ing this, it’s very strange to explicitly sort by “Top this week” or whatever and instantly have the content pushed down by hundreds of updates.
