Wholesome stuff~
I’m still here, keeping an eye on things in a sense.
A few months ago I was trying to get this, and a few other communities going, by posting actively and the like but I got pretty burned out and had to focus on other things.
I am not sure lemmy has the population yet to reach the point where communities can be self sustaining. I suspect those that are active are being kept so by a small handful of dedicated users, and when those users leave for one reason or another, the community fades.
Thanks for posting.
Please remember to add the creators name to the post title, if you know it.
I used this website to convert a video file to a webp, and then uploaded the resulting file to catbox.moe. Finally, I submitted the catbox link as a link post.
The original video was a short (like six seconds?) soundless clip though. I’m not sure how well that method would work with something larger, or if I wanted to have sound. Hope that helps!
Creating private chat groups is another matter. I honestly think Matrix chat is the best approach for secure and private group connectivity in the FediVerse. Though some might argue for Signal.
I was just passing through and thought I would throw in my two cents on this, as someone with a bit of experience. Session and SimpleX both work as ‘secure and private group chat’ platforms, as they are E2EE and require no phone numbers/other private information. SimpleX is a little more feature rich, but I’ve found Session more stable (although SimpleX is improving. They also lack the geek-curve @ExhibiCat@lemmynsfw.com mentioned, as you don’t have to do much more than pick a username to start chatting (unless you want to dig into all the technical settings). Depending on what you are looking for in a chat app, you may want to check them out.
e: fixed the link for SimpleX
Agreed! I really have no idea why it is so rare… I often have to search really hard to find content of that sort. Another thing that really inspired this com was that most of softer content I could find often had the man/masculine partner (if one was present) more on the giving side of comfort/affection. Not that there is anything wrong with that of course, I just wanted to create a space that allowed for, and maybe normalized a little, masculine people being softer and vulnerable and cared for in a healthy way.
I’ll stop myself before I go on a rant
Ha! Maybe I should follow your example.
