in talk@soccer.forum•This is something that blew my mind, why are all leading scorers off Teams (club and National Team) all from the new era? Why is there no leading scorer who played in the 70s?

Longer careers now due to improved fitness training and diet impact both stats and more internationals per year impacts that list.

Gerd Müller was West Germany’s top scorer but he only played 62 international games in an 8 year international career. Miroslav Klose overtook him but he has played 137 times in 13 years. He’s still only scored 3 more goals than Müller mind.
