I remember thinking forever that that message and warning was overblown and then when my sister started doing bio work in her 2nd year undergrad that included gene manipulation of bacteria and fruit flies (like down to editing stuff with a computer to inject later) I definitely felt a brief pang of “my god weve gone too far.”
No it’s hilarious because they keep rediscovering marxism and marxist conceptions. Reserve army of labor -> frictional and structural unemployment. Rate of profit -> inflation and return on investment and so on. They start with “lets just ignore all this commie junk” and at best just rederive the immortal science and at worst invent shit with no connection to reality.

Like Xanth, everybody gets a unique talent but most are pretty useless? A story that starts off like the pic, but the pov characters are all the normals and they help lead a revolution to a more just world?
