This makes me realize that Reddit development got stale, this should have been an updated feature years ago.
Frankly I’d be okay with plenty of reposts since I came to this sub so recently.
Is there a patreon or any additional way to support this development?
Any way we can give support? Is there a donation page?
Incredible. There’s no way engineers didn’t push this to production without testing. So what happened? My uneducated guess is that Musk told them to force logins by the end of the day or something.
What I had noticed previously, is that the lemmy container could reach around 1500% CPU usage, above that the site got slow. Which is weird, because the server has 64 threads, so 6400% should be the max. So we tried what @sunaurus@lemm.ee had suggested before: we created extra lemmy containers to spread the load. (And extra lemmy-ui containers). And used nginx to load balance between them.
Et voilà. That seems to work.
They’re on virtual tin and didn’t configure properly. There are limits in the flat files you need to change by hand to get it to scale properly, it’s tricky.
A website designer refused to make a website for a gay wedding couple, citing that homosexual relationship are against their religious beliefs. The state had laws forbidding discrimination on the basis of sexuality and in a lawsuit tried to force the designer to make the website. The Supreme Court decided 6-3 that religious beliefs are more important and the state can’t force someone do do business against their religious beliefs and that doing so would be a violation of free speech by forcing someone to make speech.
