On a serious note I always turn it down so I can hear if somebody’s yelling that a kid ran behind where I can’t see if I’m backing out or honking.

Too much stuff going on in a parking lot to risk distractions.

If this happens to you such as whether or not you locked your door before a trip do something novel while doing it.

Standing on one foot, or using your non-dominate hand (or at the end for something like brushing your teeth).
