It’s like a respec. You can either have the Oathbreaker subclass or your original subclass, they have some mutually exclusive class abilities. It shouldn’t affect things like your skill proficiencies or feats, though.

Trading specifically I’m not sure if it changes anything, but you can buy things from NPCs that normally you can’t trade with. I do know that stealing from NPCs and attacking before a cutscene plays out can change the survival of some NPCs.

I’m in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 on my main run and keep proliferating new playthroughs instead of finishing the game.

For the fight in Grymforge you’re talking about, there’s also an opportunity to get some of the duergar on your side, which makes the fight a lot more manageable.

Also, the game never explains this, but you know the buttons in the bottom left of the screen during cutscenes? You can use these to trade with characters that don’t normally have an option for it, to switch party members to sneak around while the one in conversation distracts an NPC, or to attack before a cutscene finishes playing out. Doing these things can affect the outcome of game events!

Ah yes, a new picture every MSHA refresher. No visibility on a haul truck when you have to climb a staircase to get into the cab.

I bought ARK because dinosaurs. That is the only thing it has going for it. The core gameplay loop is watching a progress bar fill up.

Aw man, I decided to save and quit about 5 minutes away from this boss fight and now I’m super excited to play some more.

Edit: This was a great boss fight. “Liiiives, all mortal liiives, expiiire”

So you have Shadowheart, Wyll, and Astarion, at least. You missed Lae’zel? Did you get Gale?

There’s a Barbarian character that you can pick up a bit later than the other companions. Make sure to get her before leaving Act 1, she makes a great front-liner.

There will be more companions to get in Acts 2 and even 3.

If you have Withers at your camp, you can also respec companions or get a hireling.

I tried to play this game the way I play DnD at first, conserving resources and long resting only after multiple fights. I missed a lot of dialogue in Act 1 and had a hard time in combat.

The combat and camp events are balanced around using long rests frequently. There are a few quests that you can fail by resting (such as the inn burning down or the situation in Grymforge), but generally things are much less urgent than the game makes them sound. Don’t be afraid to dump all your resources into one or two fights and then rest.
