At the start of all this when Christian first posted I figured I would just use some sort of workaround like old.reddit in mobile browser; the official app and new reddit are non-starters for me, it’s just not how I browse.
However, in the days since I have been increasingly dismayed by Spez and the rest of the leadership response, a lack of interest in even engaging on the subject and outright hostility towards a community that has been dedicated to reddit for years. I can’t see myself going back there, it’s been poisoned for me.
A regrettable but completely understandable action. I think this highlights the need for improved moderation tools in Lemmy. Right now the only available option is a sledgehammer of defederation which nobody is happy with. Instances absolutely have the right to protect their members in whatever ways they deem appropriate, this is the benefit of a decentralized platform, but we clearly need more granular options.
I thought the reason we don’t generally use nuclear fuel for spacecraft is the risk of a launch failure spreading radioactive debris over a potentially huge area.
Advertisers should be held liable for malware delivered on their platforms. A big reason to block ads is to prevent these types of attacks.
Probably Scythe. It was fun the first couple times when we were figuring it out, but very quickly every game ends up feeling the same.
Shadows of Forbidden Gods - a map-based strategic game where you play as an Old God seeking to destroy the world. You mostly interact with the world through your agents and the forces of good will seek to stop you so you need to sow chaos and strife in the world, cause war, plague, famine and death to keep heroes occupied until you bring about the end.
The UI is… not good. But the game ends up being really fun anyway and there is a good payoff of seeing long laid plans come to fruition.
